In September 2009, AT&T Inc. announced the acquisition of privately-held Plusmo, Inc., a leading provider of cross-platform mobile application solutions that simplify mobile application development, accelerate innovation and deliver a better application experience. Dramatically reducing development time and costs, Plusmo's technology enables developers to create widgets and applications using common Web development standards that can be easily deployed across multiple mobile operating systems and devices. Plusmo will be the platform that powers AT&T's Developer Program for mobile app developers.

The Widget Beta Program was also announced this year at the DevSummit. The AT&T Developer Program is looking for 50 developers who want to create innovative widgets using technology from Plusmo, a recent AT&T acquisition.
